Phixnozar iPad Keyboard

The Phixnozar iPad Keyboard with touchpad surprised us as to how well it works. The keyboard does not feel too cramped and the touchpad is decent for this price range. We tested this with the iPad Pro 2017 (A1701), but it should work with the 2019 iPad 7th generation (A2197 / A2200 / A2198), 2019 iPad Air 3 (A2152 / A2153 /A2123) and 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 (A1709) as well.

The plastic backing allows the iPad to slide in easily and yet it holds pretty snugly. It’s fairly easy to remove the iPad, but I feel like doing it too much might cause the keyboard back to break. The hinge is tight, but not squeaky tight. It is easy enough to move and it holds position well.

There is only one port on the left side near the hinge for USB-C charging. We haven’t had any battery length testing because we haven’t run out of juice in the two weeks we have had it. It’s easy enough to plug in the charging cable at the same time as recharging the iPad. The back has holes cut out for the iPad camera, volume rocker, headphone jack, speakers and charger. I have no complaints about the build quality. The media control buttons are a nice addition as well. There is a “rainbow-like” backlight, but we just pressed the phase button until it was all white-blue.

The only issue I have is that since it is a Bluetooth device, when it is sleeping, it takes a second or two to re-connect. I got spoiled with the instant on when using Apple’s Smart Keyboard. But, this keyboard with touchpad is quite a bit less expensive than the Apple device without a touchpad.

Verdict: 7 out of 10.
Who is this for: Someone who needs a cheaper than Apple’s Smart Keyboard that wants to use the new touchpad functionality just released in iPadOS.
Price: $69.97
